HUDSON VALLEY

Cortlandt

The town of Cortlandt may be best described as ex-urban - this is where suburban lifestyle mixes with rural charm and a commuter friendly location. The town of Cortlandt consists of several charming hamlets with villages like Croton-on-Hudson, Buchanan, Montrose, and Verplanck as well as the unincorporated areas of Cortlandt Manor with windy roads lined with stone walls. Nature lovers like the availability of recreational options from world class hiking trails, mountain biking tracks or the riverfront calling you to launch your boat or kayak.  Whether you enjoy backyard barbecues or a stroll in the village to visit your local ice‑cream shop, Cortlandt offers the relaxed lifestyle and the feel of small town you are looking for.

peekskill

Hugging the curve of the Hudson River Peekskill has plenty to offer for those looking for a perfect combination of urban living surrounded by beautiful nature. The Hudson River sets a scenic backdrop for this sizzling city with delicious restaurants, lively art scene, and a very convenient 1-hour commute to NYC. Many residents have been charmed by the variety of affordable historical houses you can find in Peekskill. Victorian houses with vividly colored decorative woodwork sit next to charming front porch colonials. For those looking for the convenience of townhouse and apartment living, there are plenty of options to choose from.

cROTON-ON-HUDSON

This is a close-knit community with a big heart. The small village feel, and walkability makes Croton a popular destination among former city dwellers. Its proximity to New York City and the express train service makes the commute relatively easy. Nature and beauty surrounds you everywhere from walking trails to riverfront parks. There is also a vibrant restaurant scene in Croton-on-Hudson that makes this village a great dining destination.

 

 

Putnam valley

The countryside starts here with winding roads and plenty of nature-filled surroundings. Putnam Valley is located a mere one hour north of New York City and just north of Westchester County. If you are looking to connect with nature, Putnam Valley has plenty to offer. Several scenic lakes and dense tree canopies give the area its special character. Small houses in these lake communities like Lake Peekskill, Roaring Brook or Oscawana which were once just summer residences, have been expanded and converted to year-round use. If you are looking for privacy of acreage and maybe an opportunity to start your own small farm Putnam valley has the room to reach your dreams.

 

yorktown

An easy one-hour commute to New York City and a small-town feel explains some of the popularity of Yorktown. It has a family-friendly atmosphere with a wealth of outdoor offerings from biking paths to swimming and hiking. The town also has some great shopping and restaurants that are frequented by locals and residents from surrounding towns Yorktown consists of five hamlets, each with its own character: Yorktown Heights, Jefferson Valley, Mohegan Lake, Shrub Oak, and Crompond. There are plenty of housing options from lakeside condominiums to single-family houses with great backyards.

Beacon & Cold spring

Cold Spring and Beacon are some of the art, antique, and nature-lovers pilgrimage destinations. Just a bit over an hour train ride from the city brings you to the charming village of Cold Spring with its abundance of antique stores and excellent restaurants. All laid out with the dramatic backdrop of the Hudson River and surrounded with stunning mountains. From village front porch colonials to sprawling mansion views Cold Spring offers a variety of options at many price points.

Beacon, on the other hand, is a bustling artist’s city with new and innovative restaurants and galleries constantly popping up. The Dia Beacon Foundation showcases one of the best of contemporary art collections in the whole world and is the cornerstone of Beacon’s art revival. The city has plenty of historical houses waiting for the right owners to bring them back to their former glory. Walkability and easy access to the Metro North makes Beacon extremely popular.
